John King is in his 7th year as Athletic Director, 14th as Head Football Coach at Longview High School.

Coach King has continued a winning tradition at one of the most storied schools in Texas. With 139 wins, Coach King is the winningest coach in school history, also amassing an incredible 31 playoff victories in only 12 years. Coach King’s accolades include 2 State Finals appearances, 12 District Championships, and 13 playoff appearances in all 13 years as head coach. Coach King has coached over 30 players to collegiate scholarships, including almost 2 dozen Division 1-A/FBS players.

King became head coach of Longview after 4 years of serving as Offensive Coordinator for the Lobos. He’s also coached at Many HS (Louisiana), Northwestern State, and Ouachita Parish (Louisiana). His son, Haynes, is a Sophomore at Longview High School.

Barry Norton

Arkansas High School

Barry Norton is beginning his 1st year as Athletic Director and Head Coach of Arkansas High school after spending 19 years at Texas High as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach.

As Athletic Director, Coach Norton established one of the top athletic programs in Texas.  Under his leadership, the Tigers won state championships in football, swimming, baseball and boys track.  In addition, the Tigers are perennial playoff contenders in both boys and girls sports.

As head football coach, Coach Norton has won more than 150 games.  Included in this record is a State Championship, 11 District Championships, and have advance into the playoffs 17 of 18 years.  He has now established himself as the all-time leader in playoff victories for Texas High School.

Norton joined the Arkansas High staff after coaching stops at Texas High, West Orange Stark, Lufkin, Port Arthur Thomas Jefferson, Little Cypress-Mauriceville, Stephen F. Austin University, Redwater, and Pleasant Grove.  Barry and his wife, Sheri, have been married twenty three years and have two children:  Clete, a Junior at Texas A&M, College Station, and Abby, a senior at Texas High School.
